Caring for an ageing parent can be filled with ups and downs. Sometimes the negatives can feel overwhelming and you find you could use some support. Thankfully, there are a number of charities in the UK that can help you out. We’ve compiled a short list with brief descriptions and contact details below. Whatever you’re going through, there will be someone who can help you.

Age UK

Age UK is Britains largest age-related charity. Age UK can help you with all manner of things, from simple information and advice all the way to tackling loneliness and providing support and equipment to improve independence. Independent Age

Independent age offers a range of services, including friendship services which pairs volunteers with older people to combat loneliness. You can call them on for free on 0800 319 6789 for information on money and benefits as well as health, mobility and services that can help. Contact the Elderly

Contact the Elderly is a charity dedicated to tackling loneliness and social isolation amongst older people living in the United Kingdom. Their mission is to empower older people to make new social connections and break out of the cycle of social isolation. They offer monthly tea parties for older people and connect people through volunteer services. The Silver Line

The Silver Line is a helpline for older people, that is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. They offer a friendship service to anyone over the age of 55 as well as helpful information and advice. They can also link you to groups and services in your area to provide further support as well as help if you fear older loved one is suffering abuse or neglect. Don’t be afraid to call on the weekend or even late at night, 68% of the calls they receive happen within these hours.
